The coal in the basin is believed to be suitable for Underground Coal Gas (UCG) which is currently being trialed elsewhere by other companies in Australia. At Myroodah, an area of deeper (200-300 metres) has been recognized for its suitability for this style of extraction and initial drilling occurred in October 2008.
